Although this website has a lot of pop-ups and side ads, it's more up-to-date on some of the most popular Japanese animated pictures. One con is that there are some anime that haven't been updated in a while.

     Kiss makes a lot of streaming websites. This one is where you can watch whatever Korean, Chinese, Taiwanese dramas you want for free. The team does its best to update every episode. It's similar to Viki.com but without ads split up in the videos.

     Spoilers beyond this point!!

     Pretear (called short) is a manga series and anime illustrated then produced in 2000. It did not become an animation until spring 2001. It ran for 4 manga volumes which turned into 13 animated episodes. The anime is owned by ADV films but was later licensed by Funimation and Madman Entertainment. 

     The story is about a normal high school girl named Himeno. Her father is a famous romance novelist who married Himeno's current step-mother, Natsue. Her new family owns a huge mansion and has a claim to most of the city's buildings so their name is plastered everywhere. One day, on her way getting lost to school, Himeno stumbles upon a Leafe Knight named Hayate (knight of wind). Very rude at first, Hayate connects with Himeno claiming her to be a Pretear. A magical princess who has the ability to soul bond with the Leafe Knights to gain powers. These powers are then used to wipe out demons and bring peace to the Earth. But there is an evil princess named Takako who wishes to see the world burn after her feelings were rejected by Hayate. So Himeno does everything within her power to stop the dark princess and claim peace once again. Sacrificing herself for the greater good.

     Story: For me, the story wasn't bland at all. It was really well-written for such a short 13 episode series. Most series that have 24 or even 52 episodes leave me with questions and cliff hangers. But the ending to this felt complete. Peace is brought back to the world and everyone is alive. Pretty good.

     Voice Acting: I wasn't too attracted to Himeno's voice but it did match her character design. Everyone else was very likable and you could see yourself getting along with them. I recognize Monical Rial and Greg Ayres in this anime. But I haven't done the research for Sasame, Takako, or Shin. 

     Character Design: If you have not read the manga, the character design isn't too far off. I'd say the design is very good for an anime of this time. I like Shin's (the youngest) design the most though. He's like a baby and we must protect him at all costs. 

     Animation: The animation for this anime was really good given that it came out in 2001. If you look carefully at some scenes, they use a 3D-like animation for the opening and some magical sequences. It's very well-done.

     RATE: 4/5 star or 8/10 scale. I would watch again!

• What is reverse harem? 

     Well, to understand what a reverse harem is, you might want to focus on the context word "harem". In the anime community, it means a male character is surrounded by a bunch of female characters. Add the word "reverse" to the beginning of it and you have the opposite. So it's indeed an anime with a heroine surrounded by male models. It's very common in visual novels for women which we call "otome games".

The following titles are not ranked. This is only a list. Do not confuse the numbers as ranks.

     1. Uta no Prince-Sama / うたの☆プリンスさまっ♪ 

     

     This anime is about a girl named Haruka Nanami (七海 春歌) who wishes to become a world-famous music composer. In order to achieve her dreams, Nanami enrolls in Saotome Academy (早乙女学園). While attending this elite music school, Naname encounters six male students who are competing to become idols. With her help, it is up to all of them to work together and become friends. 

     2. Magic Kyun! Renaissance / マジ★きゅんっ！ルネッサンス

     Magic Kyun Renaissance centers around a girl named Kohana Aigasaki (愛ヶ咲 小花). Her mother was a famous magical artisan with her signature being ikebana (flower arranging). In hopes of one day becoming a "princess" like her mother, she enrolls into Hoshinomori Magical Arts High School. Here is where she meets six talented male students; all with unique magical abilities. 

     3. Starry☆Sky / スターリースカイ

     Tsukiko Yahisa is the first female student enrolled in an all-boys academy. Her two closest friends are always doing their best to protect her from the other male students. While studying astrology at the academy, Tsukiko must focus on her duties as a student council member and her student-hood. But how can she when she is the only girl in the entire school?!

     4. Amnesia / アムネシア

     Amnesia is about a nameless heroine who happens to have her spirit clash into another, causing her to lose her memories. In order to regain them, she must travel with people she knew before and avoid meeting the wrong kind. But there's a problem... If she dies, her body is sent to another world, always waking up August 1st. 

     5. Brothers Conflict / ブラザーズ コンフリクト 

     Hinata Ema (朝日奈 絵麻) is an ordinary high school girl whose father works hard to support her, traveling is what his job mostly is. The anime starts off with her moving into the Asahina house because her father is getting married. In the house, she stumbles upon thirteen step-brothers. With only her beloved pet Juli (ジュリ) to protect her, how will she navigate around this house of testosterone?
